What have you been neglecting in your life? For me, it’s the ocean.
There is something about the ocean that unwinds deep within my soul. I find that it is something I take for granted and don’t make use of though. I live within 5 minutes and yet almost never get down to the beach. I love going for a walk beside the ocean but have not made it a priority in my life. I say I am too busy, even though I know this would be good for me.
What is it in your life that you neglect? What do you know brings you joy and peace that you don’t make a priority? I catch myself saying I am too busy (maybe you do too.) I am trying to reframe my thoughts and words to say I have chosen not to include it. That is the truth. We make a choice about what we include in our days. I know that much of what I choose (or allow in because I don’t make a choice otherwise) doesn’t add value to my days. I finish the day disappointed and feeling like I’ve wasted my time. Maybe that is the case for you too.
I want to get down to the ocean at least once in the next week. I want to build in that rest and recharge as a priority in spite of never ending to-do lists. What are you making a commitment to make a priority in your coming week? What will you include that you have been neglecting?
I love this prompt word from Five Minute Friday this week. It has spurred me on to make a commitment I may not have done. Five Minute Friday is a community of writers that writes unedited for five minutes on a prompt word. You can read more contributions here.
Oceans feature strongly in the videos I created for the Fragrant Meditations: Essential Collection course that launched this week. Having a background of an ocean during a guided meditation brings an element of peace for me. I hope it has the same effect on you.
