What voices are you choosing to listen to?

What voices are you choosing to listen to? We live in a noisy world with voices, messages, opinions and comparisons hitting us from every angle. One voice that I have given permission to speak into my life this week is my daughter. I have given her permission to tell me when she feels I have been on my phone or a screen too much. That is scary! I know that I am not the only one who allows technology to crowd out what is right in front of me more than I would like. This is one small way I am tuning in this week.

I also think about what other voices I am listening to. I want those voices to be loving, supportive and truthful. I don’t need them to always agree with me but I do need them not to tear me down. Maybe you have been tuning in to a voice that is not loving, does not speak truth and is not helpful for you. What can you do about it?

I want the loudest voice in my life to be Jesus’. That is difficult to make a reality when I allow myself to be so distracted and pulled away by other things in my life.

Inspired by the Five Minute Friday prompt word: listen. It was written by Five Minute Friday guidelines- five minutes of free write without editing. Making this series achievable this week!
This post is part of a series for Write 31 Days called “For Your Encouragement.” I am taking requests from readers on what they want encouragement about and responding to the best of my ability. I would love to hear from you.
