• Capacity blocker: disorganised

On this journey of increasing capacity, I can pinpoint several “capacity blockers” in my current life that detract or hinder my ability to do life well. One of those is disorganisation. I never used to consider myself disorganised and even considered myself very obsessive with some things. I have had to open my eyes to the reality that this self concept of being organised is in very limited areas and I have a strong tendency to lack organisation. This has never been more apparent than since becoming a mother and dealing with “pregnancy brain” and seeming relentless tiredness. Some days my brain seems completely incapable of focus and completing tasks…

  • Feeding my soul this week

The past couple of weeks have been full. Today I am packing and cleaning in preparation for our 10 day camping trip that starts tomorrow. I have been itching to write so wanted to snatch a quick few minutes to share a couple of photos of what has been feeding my soul this week in the midst of busyness. I am really looking forward to good quality family time away from some of the distractions of everyday life. I am also really excited about the launch of Write 31 Days next week. I have all the posts for while we are away ready to go and have so much bubbling…

  • Finding escape

I’ve been writing numerous posts the last few weeks. Have you enjoyed them? Oops! They never made it out of my mind on to the screen. There has been so much going on in my life, taking up my head space. I have employed my default coping mechanism: escapism. For much of my life, books have been my escape. School lunch times in my early teens were often spent reading to avoid dealing with social interaction in my depressed and anxious state. Nowadays it’s in social media, YouTube or TV. With Australia getting Netflix coinciding with a new season of intensity in my life, escapism has taken on a whole…

  • Advent Week 1: life happened but so did Advent!

Advent is here and almost a quarter of the way through already! My plans for daily blogging or at least managing three times a week were foiled by life and technology. I seriously underestimated the craziness of this past week, with two Awards Nights for work, preparing for my final session with my students, my husband’s birthday and babysitting for a friend. The good news? I still stuck to my Advent plan and have Christ firmly at the centre of this season. This was especially important for me after an incident with a parent at our Awards Night on Monday that left me shaken emotionally and fighting to forgive and…

  • Don’t miss this Advent Study Power Pack!

This post contains an affiliate link. Thanks for your support! I have talked about my love for Hello Mornings in a previous post (read it here). The last session for the year finished up last week. In the lead up to the end, I was trying to decide on an Advent study to do in the lead up to Christmas. It is so easy to get caught up in the pressures of the season. I have at times already succumbed to stress over what presents to get for people and plans for the season and it is only November! I have been making plans for how to focus on Christ…
