    Wrestling with feelings of failure

Two months into the year and it already looks completely different than I thought it would in some ways. I knew that there would be challenges and that income would need to be a higher priority. Launching a new program into schools and youth organisations was difficult last year. It has now become impossible for the near future. The bubble we’ve been living in here in Perth has officially burst and we are dealing with the fuller impact of COVID that others have been living through for a long time. I made a decision that had me wrestling with feelings of failure.  The situation My husband came to me to…

    Midyear reset

We are just about halfway through 2020. I can’t quite process that in some ways. So much has happened. So much has changed. At the end of the first quarter of the year, I reviewed my goals, my rhythms and routines and made some changes. Some things worked. Some didn’t. The second quarter is almost done. I am both looking forward to and dreading this next review. Maybe you need a midyear reset as I do. Before I started doing quarterly reviews, I had a practice of a midyear reset. Sometimes goals need to change partway through the year in response to life events or new opportunities. A routine that…

  • The pursuit of a life lived well- sharing my 2020 manifesto

Has the start of a new year overwhelmed you with the messages of resolutions, goal setting, reflection and the pressure to completely transform your life simply because we hit January once more? Or maybe you love this kind of thing and spend hours digging into it, trying new tools and making plans. No matter which side of the spectrum you are on, there is an opportunity before you. Whether it is January or June, a Monday or a Friday, we have choices to make and opportunities ahead of us. This time of year can be a time of reset for us but the change doesn’t come overnight. It is the…

  • Who do you want to be in 10 years and what can you start doing today to become that person?

This is the question that I have been set to reflect and act on today in a 30-day coaching program I am part of with Brian Dixon. We are going through his new book Start With Your People. There have been some stretching challenges set but I felt almost a sense of rebellion about this one. In an effort to take my own advice and get curious, I am processing why here with you. I’m guessing that someone else out there is just as challenged by this as I am. The idea of taking small steps today and forming habits to become the person you want to be isn’t an…

  • What do we need to reach our goals?

What dream is sitting unfulfilled in your heart? What goals and resolutions have fallen by the wayside as the year has progressed? Our lives are filled with the mundane, the important, the urgent, the dreams and opportunities galore. It is so easy for the less important and the run of the mundane to overshadow the important and the goals that live within us. What gets us from the point of dreaming, wishing and talking to actually pursuing those important goals? This is a question that I have asked myself repeatedly in recent years. There were always excuses and reasons why another year had passed without the book I had been…

  • Looking ahead into 2016

Well that was a longer break from posting than I had planned! The words just have not been there the past few weeks. I was journalling and writing Scripture but nothing came when I sat down to write here. I received some wonderful encouragement in the Hope*Writers Facebook group about reframing the way I looked at this break and sure enough, the words have been itching in my fingers all day, waiting for the opportunity to sit in the quiet.  Life has continued in the interim and has even included some changes. It has also included some unexpected challenges, a big step in a long-held vision and diving into the…
