• Thankful Thursday

A mixed bag this week! Family adventures, catching up with family members we haven’t seen in forever and another bout of illness for my daughter. It is easy to think about what I am thankful for from the good days; it takes effort to notice the good in the hard days. The scent of roses as I walk outside to take broken glass out to the bin. Being able to put strategies into practice from the book I am reading for an online book club: “Fervent” by Priscilla Shirer. I have been in great need of those prayer strategies and have already seen the difference in my prayer life. Long…

  • Thankful Thursday

In what seems to be an unusual situation of late, I am actually in a good head space to write about what I’m thankful for today. I woke up feeling so much better after battling a head cold, spent time outside with God watching a glorious sunrise and was able to get in a quick workout. Some days are easier to see the good! Returning health- I take my health for granted so often. I am thankful for feeling so much better today and that I don’t face significant ongoing health issues like many I know. (Sorry to my hubby for passing on my cold though!) Grace for myself to…

  • Thankful Thursday

It has not been the best of weeks and yet I see so much to be grateful for.  The opportunity to share with and encourage other mums of young children to notice goodness in their lives at MOPS. I know what a difference this practice makes for me (especially in the really tough first year of my daughter’s life). Sharing tools and tips to help build this habit meant a lot to me. A husband who is willing to take carers leave to look after our sick daughter so I can go to work. It makes me feel valued and that he values the work that I do as well.…

  • Thankful Thursday

It has taken a huge portion of willpower to sit and write this week. I have been caught between the desire to write, the fullness of my brain and time with other matters and being ill. With all of that, this list is needed even more. Spending time with God both on my own and in the midst of life. I have loved the new insights and the peace undergirding my days.    Finding DELICIOUS drinks that are healthy and help me with my new better eating journey. My daughter loving school so much, even if we are dealing with a very tired, cranky little girl more often than usual.…

  • Thankful Thursday

Another week of the year has passed. Another week of life, full of tiredness, busyness, delight, giggles and frustration. Another opportunity to stop and be thankful for the big and small, frivolous and deep. Cool, quiet early mornings in the midst of a record heatwave. To sit in the morning air, listening to the birds and connecting with God has been a restoring joy. Netflix putting up more seasons of Heartland. I love having a show that doesn’t have bad language, innuendo and has heartwarming stories to lose yourself in. Now to work on reducing my binge watching! My little cheerleader. After a frustrating afternoon where she had pulled on a cable…

  • Thankful Thursday

What a week this has been! I am feeling pretty spent right at this moment from the mental and emotional energy required for new routines, seeing my daughter starting school and swimming lessons and getting back into work. Grateful for this opportunity to stop and notice all the good this week. An amazing school for my daughter- other than a small case of nerves and upset at the realisation of not seeing her daycare friends anymore, she LOVED her first day. The staff there are incredible. They even sent a letter to her the week before school talking about what they would do and how much they were looking forward…

  • Thankful Thursday

As the weeks continue to fly by, we have come to another Thankful Thursday. I woke up this morning with my mind spinning, my heart racing and my to do list overwhelming. I am in need of a gratitude stop. Join me. A Groclock- my daughter is a ridiculously early riser (think 4-4:30am EVERY day). We have tried various methods and a sleep trainer clock before but nothing shifted. We bought a Groclock a few weeks ago and she has been staying in her room until the sun is on the clock most mornings. This means we get a sleep in until 5:15am each day! I know that may sound…

  • Thankful Thursday Link Up- back for 2016!

I have missed creating my lists of what I’m thankful for and am keen to get back to the practice of noticing the good in my life. The MOPS theme for this year includes noticing goodness as one of the major areas to focus on. This link up is part of that process for me.   The timing of my suspected stress fracture- it happened while I still had a few weeks of holidays left, increasing my chances to rest and not have to worry about work, school starts and our generally busy term schedule. While it is looking like recovery will be continuing into the term, at least I have had…

  • Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday is here for another week. This will be the last link up for this year with the fullness of the Christmas and New Year season. Join me in noticing the good in the midst of a potentially busy and stressful season. I know for many Christmas brings a lot of pain and heartache. The privilege of having a child to do Truth in the Tinsel with or make a sheep costume for, or even to be woken up in the middle of the night by. My heart aches for those who battle infertility and I am reminded to be so thankful for my daughter and all the aspects…

  • Thankful Thursday

The countdown to Christmas is well and truly on. At this moment, I am not feeling stressed by this (my first thankful!). It is my last week at work for the year. It is the last session for MOPS this week. I am almost finished my Christmas shopping. It is a busy season but I am not feeling hurried. Noticing the good and choosing what I focus on is certainly a contributing factor to this overarching peace. Our bottlebrush bush is finally blooming after many years of surviving but not thriving. This has been a positive to our neighbour cutting down a tree that hung over our side of the…
